About 1,700 national and international journalists have registered to cover the ASEAN Summit, which Cambodia is hosting
Phnom Penh៖HE Phos Sovann, Royal Government Delegate in Charge of the Director General of the General Department of Information and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Information, said that 1,700 national and international journalists have registered to cover the ASEAN Summit. The 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits, which Cambodia will host in 2022.
In the program of the press conference on preparing for the ASEAN Summit and related summits organized by the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CJC) on the afternoon of November 4, 2022, HE Phos Sovann affirmed that About 900 international journalists have registered to cover the event.
HE Phos Sovann added that the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had previously expected that within a month of the registration process, which ended on October 31, there would be only about 1,400 applicants. After the closure, there were up to 1,700 people, which is more than expected.
According to HE Phos Sovann, out of the 1,700 journalists, 1,648 were checked by the Ministry of Information for proper documentation and provided with a PASS for use in capturing. Images and content from the ASEAN Summit and related summits were rejected, requesting a review.
HE Phos Sovann said that for journalists who have received approval from the Ministry through online registration, they can go and get their PASS from November 7, 2022 at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh.
He added that each media unit can appoint a representative to receive the card without the need for an individual to go.
