Samdech Techo Hun Sen: US-Cambodia Relations Now Better Than Ever
Phnom Penh: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that the relationship between the United States and Cambodia now is better than ever.
His remarks were made during a follow-up meeting with His Excellency Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, on November 23, 2022.
His Excellency Eang Sophalleth, Samdech Techo’s Personal Assistant, said that during this meeting, HE Gregory W. Meeks expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for organizing and chairing the ASEAN Summit and related summits and IPA meetings. Especially at a time when the world is experiencing geopolitical tensions.
His Excellency continued, however, that he observed that Cambodia successfully led the above meeting, which reflects the leadership that others find difficult to do, and that His Excellency’s current visit to Cambodia is To participate in the IPA Summit in order to further expand relations with Cambodia through the ASEAN Summit and related meetings of His Excellency President Joe Biden, through the visit of His Excellency the Minister of Defense to the Ministerial Meeting Defense and through the participation of the IPA meeting, which the Vice President expressed his great pleasure that he met with Samdech Techo is the commitment of the United States to Cambodia and ASEAN to help strengthen each other. In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the United States for supporting Cambodia in its chairmanship of ASEAN, hosting the Summit in the United States, and attending the Cambodia Summit. Not only that, but also organized a meeting between the US Secretary of Defense and the Chinese Minister of Defense in Siem Reap.
