Samdech Techo Shares Five Recommendations to Participate in Providing Inputs for Strengthening and Promoting ASEAN Cooperation
Phnom Penh: On the occasion of the opening of the ASEAN Capital and Capital Governors Meeting and the ASEAN Governors’ Forum 2022 under the theme “ASEAN working together: Solve all challenges” this morning, December 2, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia shares five key recommendations to contribute to the strengthening and promotion of ASEAN cooperation in building and connecting ASEAN cities towards building a sustainable ASEAN community. Environment and resilience.
The five key recommendations are as follows:
First, to ensure peace, security, stability and prosperity, which are the main and most important foundation for building smart, resilient and sustainable cities.
Second, the main goal of building a city or a country is to improve the quality of life of the people with well-being, prosperity and resilience. In the context of high uncertainty, the ASEAN Capital and Capital Governments must focus on building smart cities, taking into account the facilitation of lifestyle changes along the new normalization path and adaptation of People to demographic change or any change that may occur both now and in the future.
Third, building a smart, resilient and sustainable city requires the participation of all stakeholders, including local administrations, the private sector, development partners, national and international institutions, and especially the people living directly at the local level. In this regard, the ASEAN Capital and Capital Administrations, which are directly adjacent to the people, must enhance their local awareness and ability to embrace digital technology, as well as to begin to focus on the circular economy and the green economy. At the same time, the ASEAN Capital and Capital Governments must create a conducive environment for doing business, trade and investment, and address other issues that affect people’s daily lives.
Fourth, within the framework of the ASEAN Capital and Capital Administrations, all ASEAN capitals must work together to accelerate and expand the potential of ASEAN smart city connectivity and integration through joint promotion of digitalization and digital transformation. With high potential to develop and connect all sectors in the country and the region.
Fifth, the gap in building smart cities in the region will be due to the growing trend of digital technology gap. In this regard, the ASEAN Capital and Capital Governments must further promote the culture of exchanging knowledge and sharing experiences around smart city building, especially the construction of physical and digital infrastructure, as well as ensuring the security, stability and aesthetics of cities through Effective management of clean water, electricity and waste.
At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also proposed to align efforts with the preparation and promotion of the implementation of practical joint action plans, such as: Smart City Action Plan (SCAPs) to ensure a truly regional environment. Sure.
He also called on the ASEAN Local Governments to support the “ASEAN Green Agreement”, which Cambodia has proposed to hold in its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022, to contribute to building a greener ASEAN smart city and efficient use of resources. Effectively as well.
