This morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen will deliver the opening speech of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)
Phnom Penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will address the opening ceremony of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) on Monday morning, November 21, 2022. Will be held at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh.
The opening ceremony of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly this morning will begin with a welcoming speech by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, King of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The opening ceremony of the General Assembly was also welcomed by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdey Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and keynote address by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia and President of ASEAN. Afterwards, Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly and President of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, will deliver the opening remarks.
The opening ceremony of the General Assembly was also attended by senior dignitaries, senators, members of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as the presence of delegations, observers, guests, hosts and other partner organizations. The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, organized by the Cambodian Parliament, will be held from November 20 to 25 under the theme “Working Together for ASEAN Sustainability, Environment and Resilience”. During the General Assembly, there will be several meetings of the AIPA Expert Committee, which is attended by the President of the National Assembly and members of the delegation. These meetings include: Executive Committee Meeting, Plenary Meeting, Economic Committee Meeting, Social Affairs Committee Meeting and Organizing Committee Meeting.
It should be noted that the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) is a parliamentary forum of ASEAN member countries representing nearly 700 million people in the legislative framework to bring together the views of the people’s representatives under a broad vision and close cooperation. In order to solve the common problem of the world affecting Southeast Asia and to promote security, stability and prosperity. IPA has 10 member countries, including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, hosted by the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, is the first face-to-face meeting of AIPA since the 19th global cholera outbreak since 2019. The 41st AIPA General Assembly in 2020, hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly, and the 42nd AIPA General Assembly in 2021, hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Parliament, were broadcast on video.
The 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly is an important event in which the Cambodian Parliament and its parliamentary delegations meet to share their experiences and visions within the AIPA family for the common good of nations around the world.
