Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen has revealed to the French President the discovery of a statue of Cambodia-France friendship and plans to rebuild it in front of the French Embassy in Phnom Penh.
In a joint press conference with the French President on December 13, Samdech Techo Hun Sen confirmed that the statue was found three days before Samdech Techo’s trip to France. The statue was built in 1925 and was demolished by the Khmer Rouge in 1977.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that “our progress can not be separated from the support of France.”
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also proposed a resumption of talks to set a clear date for the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and Cambodia.
